30 September 2008 2,733 views 7 Comments

You can’t outsmart the streets.  Muscle is a dime a dozen, but brains are irreplaceable. Both these statements are true but which one is more accurate? Sometimes being smart and being gangsta don’t mix. Which one makes for a better hustler? You be the Judge!

Smart Gangsta

Victor Rosa

Victor Rosa

Nino Brown

Nino Brown

Victor Rosa – Vic was probably the most gangsta of the smart hustlers. He was a heroin dealer who managed to stack millions of dollars before going legit. His fatal mistake was not applying the laws of the drug game to the business world. Don’t trust anyone.

Location – South Bronx, NY

Net worth - at least 3 million (He had a 4.5 million dollar investment and he was 1.5 million short)

Fatal Mistake – Trusting the man!

Snitch Factor – stand up guy

Nino Brown – Nino was a cocaine dealer who at the suggestion of his best friend, G-Money decides to sell crack. Once in the crack game Nino and his crew C.M.B (Cash Money Brothers) take over the city from the home base The Carter Apartments. After Nino starts power tripping, he kills G-Money and eventually starts running his business by himself. He is eventually caught tried and convicted. He cooperates with the prosecutor and given a year sentence but he is murdered in the courthouse before he can serve his jail time.

Location – Harlem, NY

Net Worth – enough to retire

Fatal Mistake – Killing his best friend, still hustling when he was hot as fire!

Snitch Factor – Snitched on Akbar from the bank

Stringer Bell

Stringer Bell

Avon Barksdale

Avon Barksdale

Stringer Bell – Stringer was the second in charge in the Barksdale Organization. When the head of the organization, Avon Barksdale went to prison Stringer assumed control and generated higher profit margins than when Avon was home. Stringer also formed the co-op, a group of competing hustlers who came together to re-up and get product at a cheaper price. He invested millions into a high end real estate deal and was jerked out of $250,000. When Avon comes home, he hinders Stringers plans of going legit and their friendship deteriorates from there.

Location – West Baltimore, Maryland

Net Worth – Multi Millionaire

Fatal Mistake – Trying to outsmart the streets!

Snitch Factor – told on best friend Avon Barksdale

Avon Barksdale – Avon was a hustler from West Baltimore who ran his crew with an iron fist. He ran the entire West Baltimore at one point but lost control when they started getting weak dope from there supplier. Avon was then imprisoned and left control to his Lieutenant Stringer Bell. Despite the fact that Stringer increased profits, Avon was mad because Stringer was acting like a business man instead of a gangsta. Stringer eventually set Avon up and he was sent back to prison.

Location – West Baltimore, Maryland

Net Worth – Multi Millionaire

Crucial Mistake –.Not listening to Stringer, everybody has to listen to someone.

Snitch Factor – told on prison guard

Sincere

Sincere

Dwayne Gittens (God)

Dwayne Gittens (God)

Sincere – Sincere starts out doing high profile stickups with his partner Tommy. After this Tommy convinces Sincere they can get more money selling a new high powered form of heroin. Sincere agrees and they begin transporting the dope from Queens to Omaha. Local dealers in Omaha get jealous and snitch on Tommy and crew. The whole team is eventually caught except Sincere. After a shootout Sincere finally makes his dream a reality and moves his family to Africa.

Location – Queens, NY & Omaha, Nebraska

Net Worth – Enough to move him and his family to Africa

Crucial Mistake – Listening to Tommy after already deciding to get out the game

Snitch Factor – Stand up guy

Dwayne Gittens (God) - Dwayne Gittens is a hustler / gangsta from Newark, NJ who moves to Ohio and takes over 80% of Cincinnati’s crack business. He brings his team from Newark with him and eventually lets a new comer into his inner circle. The newcomer turns out to be an undercover cop who ultimately brings down God’s empire.

Location – Cincinnati, Ohio

Net Worth – 13 million

Crucial mistake – trusting a newcomer

Snitch Factor – Stand up guy

The winner is Sincere the only one to stay alive out of jail and not snitch!

    The break down…

If your in the streets and ‘just smart’ then once your lack of strength is expose your done. Everyone will try to muscle you and even if you take on all challengers, they still will never stop coming.

In retrospect , if you ‘just muscle’ then any half wit will try to befriend you and take advatage of you intellegent ineptitude(yeah). You will always be able to instill fear in any comrade but the temptation to easily dupe you will always be irresistable.

From experience, from the street hustling aspect, your smarts is the weakness because in ‘the streets’ you never want to do what sensable. Therefore you do not want any one to be able to appeal to your sensability - or simply put you dont want to be pratical in any behavior.
