Hip-Hop Legend Guru dies at age 43
R.I.P Guru
Legendary MC Guru, co-founder of Gangstarr, died today after losing a yearlong battle with cancer. Rumors of Guru’s death surfaced last month after the Boston born, Brooklyn bred MC fell into a coma. Guru originally started the group Gang Starr in Boston along with a few other MC’s and producers. Soon the group disbanded and Guru kept the name Gang Starr. After hearing a beat tape by Premier, Guru added him to the group and the two released their first album, 1989’s No More Mr. Nice Guy. Gangstarr went on to release 6 albums before going their separate ways. Guru continued to record music, with his new DJ/producer Solar right up until he went into a coma. Guru will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
